In the 1800s, starvation and disease forced
thousands of Irish to leave their beloved Erin.
These souls never considered themselves
immigrants to any foreign shore, but rather, exiles
in a foreign land. They dreamed of making their
fortunes and returning to their emerald land.

Seven generations have passed since the
Campions, Lawlors, Kennedys, Hennesseys and
countless others arrived on America's shores and
traveled onward to the prairies of Olmsted
County in Minnesota. However, their stories of
exile have survived.

It is in tribute to these brave men and women,
to their dream of one day going home, that
Exiles of Erin celebrate the musical traditions
and influences of Irish music in America. May
this musical tribute bring you closer to the souls
of the past, and may it kindle what remains of
a Celtic spirit that may one day lead you home.
